MENTAL HEALTHCARE IN WASHINGTON

Looking for a mental health provider in Washington who accepts Aetna?

Meaningful Psychiatry provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care in Washington through secure telehealth. We are in-network with Aetna for eligible services, making it easier to get the support you need.

Finding a mental health provider who accepts your insurance can be surprisingly difficult. You may spend hours searching directories, calling offices, and trying to figure out whether a provider is actually in-network.

If you have Aetna and are looking for psychiatric services in Washington, Meaningful Psychiatry offers telehealth psychiatric care for eligible Aetna patients.

Our practice is based in Sammamish, but telehealth allows us to serve patients across Washington, including the greater Seattle area, Eastside communities, Tacoma, Everett, Olympia, Spokane, and surrounding communities.

Meaningful Psychiatry is in-network with Aetna for eligible services. Because insurance benefits vary by plan, we verify available benefits before your appointment whenever possible.

What does a psychiatric provider do?

People sometimes know they want "a psychiatrist" but aren't sure what type of care they actually need.

Psychiatric care can include evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing follow-up. Some people seek care for the first time, while others already have a diagnosis and are looking for continued medication management.

Whether medication is appropriate is something you can discuss with your provider. Treatment is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.

At Meaningful Psychiatry, psychiatric services may include:

Meet Francis Abgotse, PMHNP

Francis Abgotse is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Meaningful Psychiatry.

Francis brings more than a decade of experience in psychiatry and takes a patient-centered approach to care. He emphasizes listening to each patient’s concerns and understanding their history, strengths, values, culture, and lived experiences.

His approach may incorporate psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle and behavioral strategies, and collaboration with other members of a patient’s care team when appropriate.

The goal is to create a treatment plan that is collaborative, individualized, and connected to what matters to each patient.

Francis is currently accepting Aetna patients for psychiatric services through telehealth in Washington State.

Do I need a psychiatrist, therapist, or psychiatric provider?

These roles can overlap, but they are not identical.

A therapist or counselor may be a good fit if you are primarily looking for psychotherapy and support with emotional, behavioral, or relationship concerns.

A psychiatric provider may be appropriate when you are looking for psychiatric evaluation, medication management, or ongoing medical management of a mental-health condition.

You can also work with both. Many patients see a therapist for ongoing psychotherapy while working with a psychiatric provider for medication management.

If you already have a therapist, you do not necessarily have to start over. With your permission, your providers can coordinate care when appropriate.

Does Aetna cover psychiatric services?

Aetna coverage varies depending on your specific plan. Your benefits may include different deductibles, copays, coinsurance, referral requirements, or authorization requirements.

Before scheduling, check the information on your Aetna member card and plan documents. You can also ask whether Meaningful Psychiatry and the specific provider you are requesting are in-network for your plan.

Our team can help verify available benefit information, but Aetna makes the final determination regarding coverage and your patient responsibility.

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first appointment is more than a quick medication check.

Your provider may ask about:

  • What brought you to treatment
  • Current symptoms and concerns
  • Mental-health history
  • Previous medications and treatments
  • Current medications
  • Sleep, energy, mood, and concentration
  • Family, work, school, and daily life
  • Your goals for treatment

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss what you would like treatment to look like.

Your First Appointment

A support, no-pressure conversation to get started.

Why choose telehealth?

For many patients, virtual care removes practical barriers to getting help.

You can attend from a private location without commuting, sitting in a waiting room, or rearranging your entire day around an office visit.

For people living outside the Seattle metropolitan area, telehealth can also make it easier to access psychiatric care without driving long distances.

You will need a device with a camera, an internet connection, and a private place to talk.

A resource for patients — and the professionals who care for them

Meaningful Psychiatry also welcomes connections with professionals who may have patients looking for psychiatric services.

Primary-care providers, therapists, counselors, school professionals, and other healthcare professionals may encounter patients who need psychiatric evaluation or medication management but do not have access to those services within their own practice.

If you are a professional looking for a psychiatric referral resource in Washington, you are welcome to contact our office to learn more about current availability, insurance participation, and referral coordination.
